Topanga 27 is one of my favorite roads to journey through. While hiking one morning and taking in the overlook, I felt an intense sense of connection to what I was witnessing. Nature always speaks to me this way. The words moved through me like a windy day.
While driving somewhere off Stunt Road in California, with anxiety screaming through my chest and a mind filled with pain, confusion, and deep searching, I found this alp. To be in the presence of such a massive overlook of the mountains, I found what I was searching for... relief. And later, the words to this poem.
Nicholas Canyon Beach was one of my escape havens in 2024. At the time I had the luxury to visit this beach often. I would cry to the ocean and pray to the waves for better days. My longing for deep intimacy both within myself and with others—inspired this poetic vision.
Traveling to Oregon had long been on my list of places to visit, and in 2024, I finally made my way there. The scenery gave me space to follow my feelings. That year was one of change—of forgiving others, and of truly learning to forgive myself.
Another day in Oregon! The environment felt magical and then magic was made. This particular project reminds me of something mystical and from another time.
